Wing Commander Peter Ayerst DFC Flew Hurricanes with 73 squadron, during 1940 and was actively operational during the Battle of France and Britain, although he was never credited with the Battle of Britain clasp despite shooting down a He111 whilst flying as an instructor. He then flew Hurricanes in North Africa and later Spitfires as part of the D-Day & Normandy operations. After the war he became a successful test pilot.
